Here's a nice book that helps you realize your attitude can change everything. One of those cup half empty/cup half full books. The world needs more of them. This book, When Lucky Met Unlucky, is about a  lucky bunny and an unlucky duck going to a party. They experience the same things, but their views on what happened were completely opposite. This is a good book for kids because it will help them see that there is no need for drama, they can change their attitude a little to see the positive side of most things. Nice job Miriam Dor, now write another.

Back by popular demand, Kimberling Galeti Kennedy delivers another wonderful book. Finally a children's book that will really educate and protect kids. This book, Hey! Don't Forget the Sunscreen! talks about the importance of wearing sunscreen and other protective gear like a hat and sunglasses. But the book really goes into detail giving kids a closer look at what skin cancer really is. I hate to admit it, but even I learned a thing or two about skin cancer from reading this book. So if you live in one of the sunny states, like I do, this book is a must for your kids and don't forget to grab a bottle of sunscreen while you're at it.

Bedtime Mischief has quickly become my kid’s favorite bedtime story. The book is about a little girl that decided to have a little fun by getting into mischief before going to bed. That seems to be the case for every kid, every night. But the book teaches a good lesson. It teaches that it’s OK for kids to be kids and have a little mischief in their life, but they’re in charge of cleaning their mess. That’s the part that most kids seem to have trouble with. Now that this story has become my kid’s favorite bedtime story, cleaning their mischief mayhem has also become a bedtime routine thanks to this wonderful book. Any parent with crazy kids like mine will be grateful they spent the money on this book.

I love classic stories like Pinocchio, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty. I also love prequels that are written perfectly in tune with the classic. Here we have The Witch and the Baby Princess, a fantastic prequel to Charles Perrault’s Cinderella.  What a wonderful story of a witch, Mirabelle, and her choices to do good or evil. Her decisions would ultimately affect her destiny. The thing that I like most about this story is the way it’s presented. The author writes with a very distinct voice that reminds me of a father reading a bedtime story to his kids, which just adds more character to this classic tale. If you’re looking for good books for your kids to read over the summer, this is an amazing book to start with.

Just read a very fun book that is part of a new series for kids that love starter chapter books, “A Pack-n-Go Girls Adventure” book. This was the first in the series called Mystery of the Ballerina Ghost. The book was short and sweet and packed with mystery. I read the book in one sitting, and I hardly do that with any book, unless there are wonderful pictures which this has. Very entertaining. But the Two things that I liked most about this was first: the author did her homework. This story took place in Austria, not Australia. Just reading this book I learned a lot about Austria, and a little German as well. Second: When you are finished reading the story, the book isn't finished teaching you . It is crammed with facts about Austria, traveling tips, weather advisories, what you should expect to eat while visiting, and much more. If I was traveling to Austria, this is the book I would want my kids to read on the plane trip over. I can’t say enough about this new series. This is definitely a series I will follow.

Journey to Jazzland. What a wonderful book. As a teacher, I don’t often run across many books that talk about music, especially Jazz. This book is full of unique musical characters that embark on the journey to find Jazzland. I had the privilege of reading this book to a second grade class, and when I was done, this book had peaked the students interest about music, Jazz, and different instruments. They wanted to know what an oboe was and what it sounded like. They also asked the music teacher if she had ever been to Jazzland. So, if you like music and want your kids to be interested in music as well, this is the book for you.
